YARD -- Unit of length in the foot-pound-second system formerly fixed by a line standard, redefined in 1963 as 0,9144 m.
YARROW BOILER -- A Marine water-tube boiler employing an upper steam drum connected by banks of inclined tubes to three lower water drums, between two of which superheating elements are arranged.
YAW -- The rotation of a horizontal axis wind turbine around its tower or vertical axis.
Y-CONNECTION -- An alternative name for star connection.
YIELD-- The proportion of heavy or light products which can be derived from a given barrel of crude oil.
Y-VOLTAGE -- The voltage between any line and neutral of a three-phase or six-phase system. Also called phase voltage or star voltage.
