    10 September 2004

I was pleasantly surprised to find your site after looking for a bit of information. I was asked the turndown ratio of the boilers in a plant I am working in. I've been an operating eng. for 34 years and never heard that term before so I was curious. Not only did your site answer my inquiry, it intrigued me enough to go through your answers to questions. I liked it! Your site is a welcome resource for us guys on the midnight shift! Keep it up, I'll recommend your site to the new guy (saves time) answering questions on plant ops.

The information conveyed is silmply "Fantastic". A Teaching Faculty with "Samundra Institute of Maritime Studies" in India I am very impressed with the effort.
Would also like to contribute in areas of boiler combustion controls.
Once again I applaud the effort.

    26 May 2004

I was very interested in different types of boilers employed in naval shipbuilding, and I had a very wide overlook about it.

    15 May 2004

Dear Sir,
You have made my day. I have been teaching for 7 years in a marine engineering institute. I am also a marine engineer having worked for nearly 20 years on board. Now I teach Marine Boilers in the II term. In the first it was all Marine Auxiliaries and Diesel Engines.
Do you have a CD with narration on Marine Boilers and accessories, (different types, salient points, maintenance etcor without for projection to make it interesting in the packaged course to make it convenient and effective. The book Marine Boilers by Milton and Leach is not only out of print but also outdated.
I shall look forward to hearing from you.
With regards V.G.Sundararaman

This site is very informative. I like it and appreciate the efforts of web author.

    24 April 2004

In our HRSG the drum level low low trip is via two conductive level switches ELS 300 model. I am interested to know the ASME or ISO standard for drum level trip swithes.
Are these more reliable and accurate as compared to float types.
One more thing how important is the wet leg compensation on the drum level (DP) transmiters.
I would be obliged if I receive answers to the above in my email address.
Regards

    19 April 2004

Great site, used to work for texaco the V2M9 was my baby.

    30 March 2004

I like your KISS (Keep it simple stupid) approach which works even for the all knowing steamship engineers like myself. You have presented just enough information to answer the basic questions and yet you also provide enough info to formulate additional questions which can be researched in modern text on the various subjects.

Good job with the art work as well.

Nice web site, I love all the pictures of the types of boilers you have. I just started working on a model steam plant, with a firetube boiler, made out of 6inch copper pipe. When it is done, can I send you pictures of it so you can tell me what you think?
Thank you. M.Woods

Your small notes seem to be interesting and informative. Presently I'm working on few projects related to water tube boilers(10MT/Hr saturated steam ) and steam heating coils for FSO. Maybe you can share some of your experiences related to utility boiler onboard a vessel. Apparently,we have some problems with leaking tubes. Hope to hear from you sometime.
Kind Regards
