Hello,
Thanks for the quality of your site.
Former seaman, I work for a classification society on machinery risk analysis. Your explanations are quite helpful in my tasks since I have little experience of boilers.
Great one, keep improving your site.

Very informative.

    28 November 2006

I was pleasently impressed by design. Maybe there are necesary more explanations.

Thanks a lot for your excellent job.
Truly didactic. I enjoyed it very much.

    11 November 2006

This is very informative and can prove good to the students but more construtional details and in depth parts details should be given.

    3 November 2006

A very nice site which has even for a marine boiler project engineer some new and interesting to read. Especially the "questions and answers" is a very nice source of information for the problems which are not everyday's business. Please go on this way...

    12 October 2006

Very professional and still ease to get a clear picture of most of the subjects involving boilers.
Thank you
Lori Badeaux

Hello Lars,
Thanks for a great read.
Very informative. Due to economic conditions in our country we are having to use coal tar fuel in our burner after reading your articles we have decided to change over to a rotary cup type burner.

I enjoy your website. I was in the US merchant marine 1967, Mechanical Engineer, US Submarines, presently in large coal fired power plant design. Am building a personal steam boat, a sidewheeler.

    24 September 2006

Wow very impressive site...I know very little about such things but came across it when looking for information on steam...I am a apprentice boilermaker from australia...bit of a joke as I work in a structural steel workshop...but maybe one day I'll get a shot to build something as great as the boilers I see here...once again top work...

    19 September 2006

Dear Lars,
Your site is very wounderful, I like it and I got very useful information from it.

Great web site. Have 11 issues on chiefs ticket steam diesel any h.p. Last ship SS Marore ore navg. Corp[beth. Steel] carried 1565 on drum safties, 1250 at throttle. 2 stages reheat. Tough plants to run.

    14 September 2006

Lot of conceptual information is came to know including controls part and terminology even though we are dealing steam systems in marine applications. Experienced answers are higly useful. Well done. Best wishest & hope to see many more informations.

    12 September 2006

Great site, thank you!
I am just retired and looking into steam as hobby. Your site looks like it will help alot, thanks again.

Nice to pictures of ships I rembers so well from Stockholm and Sodertalje.
SS Mariefred gave us a nice day sailing to Skokloster in grade 6.
After spending a year in the navy and having my own boats for many years I realy appriciate seeing this nice website.
In Canada I resorted to flying instead.

Hejsan.
Jättefin hemsida. Jag brukar hjälpa till på Trafik lite då och då. Det hade varit kul om du kunde göra hemsidan på svenska också svårt att läsa alla fackuttryck.
Hoppas att vi får se dig ombord någon gång igen. / Camilla.

I am a sailing marine engineer, this website is really useful for me to prepare for my competency exam. I extend my heartful thanks to the owner of this website and his staffs, thanks you.

    11 May 2006

Nice overview. I'm a boiler water treatment specialist, and was looking for specific information on evaporator treatment (partculalry, why evaporators make high TDS water). Unfortunantely, your site did not help, but I browsed it extensively.

    8 May 2006

Nice page you've got!

    27 April 2006

I really impressed with this sight. U r a genius.

    24 April 2006

Thank you. I've learned more about steam engines and boilers, on your site, than anywhere else on the Internet. Very nice site design and awesome technical details. Keep up the good work and thanks again!

    20 April 2006

This website is really informative, the most educational (on boilers) I have come across. I am recently interested in steamboats - intending to build a 4mtr launch in the near future. I hope I can ask you questions about boiler construction, and I hope you don't pass them off as daft ideas.

Hello,
I'm an engineer in the US Merchant Marine employed thru a trade union, the MARINE ENGINEERS BENEFICIAL ASSOCIATION. We are the largest licensed marine engineers union in the US. We have contracts with container lines, tankers, military support etc. I sail diesel or steam, as the need arises, but of course I prefer steam. Sadly, the era of steam appears to be ending and your website is appreciated by this old salt.

    6 April 2006

Very interesting and clear.

    24 March 2006

Lovely interesting site. I will be back again and again. Keep up the pressure!

    23 March 2006

I have learned more about Steam Boilers than I ever thought it was necessary to know, since I have never and will probably never, have to work with steam boilers. Thanks for the information.

    21 March 2006

Really very informative site. Thank you very much. Keep it up.

    13 March 2006

Thanks for the information. I'm getting back into steam after a hiatus of a few generations. Tolerance of this propulsion type to different kinds of fuels is a consideration.

    7 March 2006

This is a valuable site which has improved my knowledge. Thank you, James.

    5 March 2006

I am into the boiler industry since 25 years with a start in it from the stage of cleaning boilers as assistant to boiler operator. The site is a very good presentation in the field of boilers. I heartily appreciate the efforts taken to make it. Thanks.

    25 February 2006

I wish the internet with all your information had been around when I was doing my steam Chief's ticket, and when I was sailing on various steam ships with what were in a sense modified power station boilers. I really enjoy your site. It takes me back so I can see, hear, sweat and smell a ship's engine room again!

    21 February 2006

I like to read this book because it's useful for my job.

    21 February 2006

Thanks for putting up all those wonderful pictures. I especially enjoyed the pictures of the engine rooms.
I also enjoyed the valve gear diagrams. You show several types there that I had not heard of before.
I have thought about visiting Sweden some day because all of my great grandparents on my mother's side emigrated from there about 80 years ago. Now that I have seen your steamboat pictures, I am even more motivated to make the trip.

    20 February 2006

Lars I enjoyed your page, very good, I am teaching steam to ships engineer cadets, and have advised them to check out your website.

    19 February 2006

Thank you for your excellent work.

    19 February 2006

A great site. I will be learning from it for a long time.
Me? 68yr. young machinist building small steam engines and boilers.

    10 February 2006

Väldigt mycket bra information.
Tyvärr räcker inte min engelska till alla fackuttryck.

    12 January 2006

I am a Lecturer in Marine Engineering at Glasgow College of Nautical Studies. I have used your pages to update my knowledge and pass it on to my students. Thanks for all your help with the information.

As a former Instructor in Stationary Engineering I would recommend this site as a valuable reference for anyone studying toward certification. There are good "on the job" information as well.
I am currently researching the history of stationary engineering training in this province (Nova Scotia) in Canada. In particular, I am looking at when the trade became regulated. It is apparent that marine engineers were regulated well before stationary engineers. Also it would appear that the regulatory structure for stationary engineers was patterned after on marine engineers regulation. I am looking for dates and names of marine regulatory bodies that would relate to our experience in Nova Scotia. It was a pleasure to peruse your site.

    3 January 2006

This is wonderful site and has lots of information about all marine boilers.
